Our firm’s lawyer visits Hainan Waijing Law Firm

In response to the call from the Hainan Provincial Department of Justice and to support the construction of the free trade port, our firm has signed a cooperation agreement with Hainan Waijing Law Firm (“Waijing Law Firm”), serving as the Hong Kong legal advisor for Waijing Law Firm. Waijing Law Firm has also become our firm’s representative office in Haikou.

On the morning of April 16, our associate Ms. Cissy Lin visited Waijing Law Firm and held a “Hainan-Hong Kong Lawyers Business Exchange Seminar” with the firm’s directors and young lawyers. Wang Ming, Director of the Management Committee of Waijing Law Firm, Director Zhang Lin, Director Jia Di, Administrative Manager Wu Shan, and several young lawyers participated in the seminar. Lawyers from both regions engaged in friendly exchanges on various aspects, including litigation procedures, inheritance laws, and legal systems in Mainland China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Law Society’s Spring Cocktail Reception

Our Managing Partner Mr. Stanley Chan, Registered Foreign Lawyer Ms. Eulalia Souza and Associate, Ms. Joycie Wu attended The Law Society’s Spring Cocktail Reception on 2 March 2026 to celebrate the Year of the Horse.

Over 400 VIPs, distinguished guests, and members attended the event, including the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, the Hon Andrew Cheung Kui-nung, GBM; Secretary for Justice, the Hon Paul Lam Ting-kwok, GBS, SC, JP; Deputy Secretary for Justice, Dr. the Hon Cheung Kwok-kwan, SBS, JP; Director-General of the Department of Law of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Liu Chunhua; Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR, Ms. Zhou Qian; and Chairman of China Legal Service (Hong Kong) Limited, Ms. Liu Changchun.

Also in attendance were Members of the Legislative Council, senior government officials, representatives of disciplined services, public bodies, professional organisations, the legal and business sectors, as well as Consuls General from a wide spectrum of jurisdictions.

The Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA)

The firm extends its warmest congratulations to our Partner, Olivia Kung on completing her term as Chair of the Publications Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).During her tenure, Olivia led the transformation of the IPBA Journal into a publication that not only explores thought leadership in law but also reflects the cultural diversity of the legal profession across the Asia-Pacific and beyond. We are also proud to celebrate Olivia’s appointment as Vice-President of the IPBA — an inspiring milestone in her 13-year journey with the association, which began through the Law Society of Hong Kong’s sponsorship program.
The firm further congratulates the IPBA and President Priti Suri on a successful Annual Conference in New Delhi, and joins Olivia in looking forward to welcoming international delegates to Hong Kong in 2028, when the city will host the IPBA Annual Conference.

Hong Kong Listing Regime—Opportunities and Challenges—Our Firm Participates in a Seminar on “Mainland Enterprises Listing in Hong Kong”

To further strengthen collaboration on Mainland enterprises listing in Hong Kong, on 23 January 2026, our firm’s partners Mr. Stanley Chan, Ms. Artemis Szeto, and KSK’s greater bay lawyer Ms. Joyce Tung, attended a seminar themed “Hong Kong Listing Regime—Opportunities and Challenges.”
The seminar provided an overview analysis of the core frameworks of the Listing Rules and the Securities and Futures Ordinance, covering key areas such as the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited’s 2025 review, streamlining of the new listing application approval process, the strategy of listing on A-shares first followed by H-shares, and an overview of the Hong Kong listing regime together with case studies. The aim was to deepen the industry’s understanding of the Hong Kong listing regime and its requirements.
During the event, Ms. Artemis Szeto and Ms. Joyce Tung as the speakers present the relevant topics from a professional perspective and drawing on extensive practical experience.
Following the presentation, Mr. Stanley Chan and Mr. Shi Xiangyang delivered closing remarks. They highlighted the importance of deepened collaboration, mutual development, and long-term synergy between the teams.
Through this in-depth exchange of professional insights and practical experiences, the event further strengthened the foundation of cross-border collaboration between our firm and Guangdong Kingbridge Law Firm. Moving forward, both firms will continue to leverage their respective expertise to deliver more efficient, seamless, and high-quality cross-border legal services, jointly fostering a new chapter of integrated development.

Seminar on Child Protection Legislation

On 8 January 2026, our Associate, Ms. Joycie Wu, was invited to deliver a seminar on Hong Kong’s child protection legislations at Sham Shui Po Government Primary School.
During the seminar, Ms. Wu introduced key legislations for child protection in Hong Kong, provided the definition and examples of child abuse, discussed the role of teachers and the responsibilities of schools in child protection, reviewed the core professional values outlined in the Guidelines on Teachers’ Professional Conduct, and discussed the civil and criminal liabilities of teachers with case studies. Furthermore, Ms. Wu also explained the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance (Cap. 650), which has recently come into operation on 20 January 2026.

IPBA Welcome Reception for President-Elect Priti Suri

On 3 December 2025, Winnie Tam SC, Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) Jurisdiction Council Member for Hong Kong, and our Partner Olivia Kung, Officer and Chair of the IPBA Publications Committee, hosted a welcome cocktail reception at Des Voeux Chambers to honour the visit of IPBA President-Elect Priti Suri to Hong Kong. The event drew over 65 attendees, including IPBA members and distinguished guests, creating a lively atmosphere of professional networking.
Later that evening, Olivia hosted an intimate dinner for Priti, featuring authentic Chinese cuisine — an essential Hong Kong experience.
Olivia will represent our firm to attend the upcoming IPBA annual conference in February 2026 in New Delhi, India.

Water Seepage Litigation Seminar

On 17 November 2025, our Associate, Ms. Joycie Wu, was invited to speak at a seminar on water seepage litigation, jointly organised by Hong Kong Institution of Building & Services Engineers (HKIBSE) and Hong Kong Engineering Association Alliance (HKEAA). The seminar was held at the Hong Kong Mediation Centre and brought together legal experts, engineers, and senior mediators to share insights, case studies, and the recent developments in law, seepage investigation and mediation techniques related to water seepage issues.

“Stablecoins” Seminar by Dr. Hon Johnny NG Kit-chong, MH, JP, Member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council at Our Firm

On 15 September 2025, Dr. Hon Johnny NG Kit-chong, MH, JP, Member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council and Founder of the Goldford Group, held a seminar on “Stablecoins” at our firm. During the seminar, Dr. Ng introduced the concepts of Web 1.0 to 3.0 and provided a detailed explanation of what stablecoins are, the differences between stablecoins and cryptocurrencies, the global market size of stablecoins and cryptocurrencies, and their future outlook.
In addition, Dr. Ng discussed the recently passed Stablecoins Ordinance and the JPEX (a virtual asset trading platform) fraud case with our firm’s lawyers during the seminar.
After Dr. Ng’s sharing, our firm’s lawyers gained a deeper understanding of concepts such as virtual currencies, stablecoins and the digital economy, laying a solid foundation for handling works related to digital assets and stablecoins transactions in the future.
